Details: Yucatan, Mexico, Central America, 8th century: the powerful Maya states fight to gain influence in the most densely populated area of the world at that time. Mundo Maya puts the players into an ancient mythological world and let them participate in the Maya habits and customs. With great care and planning, the players lead their tribes consisting of priests, warriors, merchants, manufacturers and farmers to glory and honor.
Mundo Maya consists of several rounds which represent years within the Maya calendar. The players harvest corn, develop their states, create pieces of art, trade, call their gods, subdue other Maya tribes and build temples or further buildings. Every player develops his own survival strategy and collects victory points. Every year, there are new challenges and the players need to take new decisions in order to optimally lead their tribes. The Maya calendar representing their belief in providence and in the power of their gods is a central element of the game determining the course of the whole game. Since the combinations of divinities and natural phenomenons on the calendar always change, every game is unique.
